This is the dramatic moment a British Formula 1 star’s Ferrari spun out of control before crashing in Monaco.

Footage shared online captured Lando Norris’s £2million Ferrari F40 gliding down a winding Italian road before smashing into a barrier.

The red supercar could be seen spinning almost a full 360 degrees as it slowed down after sliding into the metal railing.

During the incident the expensive Kevlar bodywork of the iconic car was wrecked, with images showing parts of the vehicle’s bumper hanging off.

But miraculously, the car was still drive-able following the crash.

The McLaren driver, 25, was reportedly not behind the wheel at the time and according to local Italian media, it is not clear who was driving the classic Ferrari.

Norris bought the F40, which bears the plate 865Q, last summer for a staggering £2million following his first Grand Prix in Miami.

He was first seen driving the vehicle during a shopping trip in December.

The Ferrari F40, introduced in 1987, is considered one of the most legendary supercars in history.

The F40 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V8 that makes 471 hp (352 kW/478 PS) in European spec.

While that power is certainly enough to get you into trouble, it has also been noted that the ’80s turbocharging technology and its associated lag could get drivers into trouble by providing a sudden kick of torque that they might not be expecting.

Ferrari made only 1,315 examples of the F40 between 1987 and 1992.

It came with a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 making 471 bhp.

It comes after West Ham football star Michail Antonio was left with a broken leg after a horror Ferrari crash last month.

Firefighters fought for 45 minutes using cutting equipment to free the father-of-four from his £260,000 Ferrari after the brutal accident in Theydon Bois, Essex.

And in November, a car smash involving two Ferraris, a McLaren and a Bentley with a combined value of £6million was branded the most expensive crash of the year.

The incident took place on November 10 on a mountain road near Pfunds, in Austria’s Tyrol State, where a £447,000 Ferrari 812 Superfast collided with a £4million LaFerrari.

That crash then triggered a chain reaction, with the £1.4million McLaren Elva ramming into the two cars and escalating the chaos.

Ultimately, the £192,000 Bentley Continental GTC at the rear crashed into the lineup, forcing the luxury sports cars into the rock face.

Police reportedly said none of the drivers were injured in the collision.
