Fast-food giant Burger King plans to spice up its signature Whopper ahead of Halloween, according to a popular food blogger.

The ‘Ghost Pepper Whopper’ will be on the menu at select Burger King locations on Oct. 10 before a nationwide rollout by Oct. 13, according to an Instagram post by Markie Devo, an influencer known to break exclusive fast-food news.

The burger “features an orange bun, spicy queso, crispy jalapeños, bacon, ghost pepper cheese and a Whopper patty,” said Devo in his post. “I don’t know about y’all, but an orange bun seems like a damn good time.”

The Post reached out to Burger King for comment.

It won’t be the first time the Florida-based chain will try to scare up some extra profits with a Halloween-themed burger. In 2015, Burger King served its classic flame-grilled patty on black bun and in 2018 it released the “Nightmare King” whopper on a green bun that purportedly promoted bad dreams.

The Ghost Pepper Whopper will feel like a real Halloween treat with an orange bun, spicy queso, crispy jalapeños, bacon, ghost pepper cheese and a Whopper patty.

Burger King has maximized the brand equity of Whopper for years with customizations and limited-edition menu offerings.

“We kicked off the year with a new $5 Have It Your Way Meal, featuring a Double Whopper Jr.,” said José Cil, the chief executive of Restaurant Brands International — which along with Burger King owns Tim Hortons, Popeyes, and Firehouse Subs — in the company’s first quarter earnings call.

“In order to treat the Whopper as a powerful multibillion-dollar brand that it is, we removed the legendary burger from our core discount offerings and added some fan-favorite variety, the Big King and quarter-pound King to our new two-for-five offer,” Cil added.

Burger King's wrapping aligns with its limited-edition offerings.

The Halloween Whopper may ignite a burger war with rival McDonald’s. Devo hinted that the brand’s Halloween Pails — its popular holiday specific buckets originally named McPunk’n, McBoo, and McGoblin — might make a comeback this year on October 18.

The Post has reached out to McDonald’s for comment.
