Katie Slaton, who often starred on “1000-Lb Sisters” alongside her cousins Tammy and Amy Slaton, has passed away. She was 37.

Tammy and Amy’s sister, Amanda Halterman, announced the shocking news on Tuesday, August 26, in an emotional Instagram post.

“It is with a completely crushed heart and spirit that I have to post this,” Halterman, 44, began. “My little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday. She was a force to be reckoned with and showed love that was accepting and given freely.”

“She was the life of the party and my best friend,” Tammy and Amy’s sister continued alongside a sweet snap with Katie holding a bag of cookies. “I know both our grandparents and friends was there to welcome you home.”

“Please pray for my aunt uncle and cousins but mostly for the babies and for Natalie to be strong. Please pray for everyone whom loves her,” Halterman added. “Thank you all who has come out and supported her.”

The reality star concluded her touching message with the hashtag, “#cancerscks.”

Katie’s obituary page on Whitsell Funeral Home’s website further confirmed that the late “1000-Lb Sisters” star passed away Monday, August 25, at Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 29, at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, Kentucky, per her obituary.

Before her heartbreaking passing this week, Katie made several appearances in “1000-Lb. Sisters” following its premiere on TLC in January 2020.

The series has aired on TLC for seven seasons. It follows the lives of Amy, 37, and Tammy, 39, as they navigate their struggles with life-threatening obesity.

Katie was featured most prominently during Season 5 when Tammy was released from a weight loss rehab center.

But Tammy and Amy’s beloved cousin was diagnosed with a rare form of stomach cancer called Stage 4 gastric adenocarcinoma earlier this year, at which point she had to begin undergoing chemotherapy treatments.

Halterman took to social media back in January to detail her cousin’s cancer battle and to ask for support from the TLC reality show’s countless fans.

“Hi, everyone. This is Amanda Halterman, and today I’m reaching out to my amazing supporters for something very close to my heart,” she wrote on Facebook at the time.

“My cousin, Katie Slaton, is bravely fighting stage 4 cancer, and we’re asking for your support in any way you can offer it,” Halterman added.

Halterman returned to social media once more just one day before Katie’s heartbreaking death.

“Please whisper a prayer for our family as we continue to support Katie Slaton,” she said in an emotional Instagram post alongside a picture of her cousin. “I am so thankful to be allowed to stand by your side.”

“Missing you cuzzin,” Amy and Tammy’s older sister added on Tuesday alongside a clip of herself and Katie, as well as the hashtag “#katiestrong.”

The Post has reached out to TLC for comment.
