# Yemeni government forces advance into Marib governorate as part of operation "Dawn of Yemen".

The offensive aims to retake all remaining Houthi-held territory, including Sanaa, which has been under Houthi control since 2014.

Yemeni government forces have made significant strides into the Marib governorate in north-central Yemen as part of their operation "Dawn of Yemen". The offensive was launched just over a week ago and marks a major push by the Saudi-backed government to regain control of territory held by Houthi rebels.

The Houthis had achieved major gains along the Red Sea coast in September, capturing the strategic port city of Mocha and surrounding areas around the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. This shipping route is one of the most important in the world.

Rashad al-Alimi, chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, stated that operation Dawn of Yemen aims to retake all remaining Houthi-held territory, including Sanaa, which has been under Houthi control since 2014 when the conflict began.

Intense fighting and Houthi shelling have ravaged residential areas in Taiz, a city located in southwest Yemen. The violence has resulted in dozens of civilian casualties.

Government troops have successfully secured key commanding heights surrounding the strategic Maas camp facility in Medghal district after breaching Houthi fortifications through intensive attacks.

In another development on the southern front, forces from Saba and Bayhan axes announced they had captured al-Muqailat and Jabal Zajjar positions north of Harib district. The government claimed that fierce clashes led to Houthi forces retreating and suffering significant losses in personnel and equipment.

Government forces are making significant gains in Marib, where intense battles have been raging along the front lines in both the north and south of the region. In a coordinated effort, warplanes, drones, artillery, and rocket launchers were used to target Houthi military positions and reinforcements.

The armed forces' media centre released footage showing drone attacks on Houthi military barracks and vehicles within the scope of operations in the third military region. The footage appears to document the destruction of multiple combat vehicles and equipment.

Military spokesperson Colonel Majid al-Nuzaili announced that operations have involved 1,879 precise strikes, resulting in the neutralisation of 950 Houthi fighters and the destruction of 380 military vehicles.

Houthi-affiliated media reported that air strikes had targeted several areas outside Marib, including Kamaran Island and the al-Qanawis district in Hodeidah governorate along the Red Sea, as well as the Harf Sufyan district in Amran, western-central Yemen.

In Taiz, government forces and popular resistance fighters are engaged in fierce battles across multiple major axes amid a wide-scale escalation. Heavy fighting has flared on the western fronts of al-Dhabab, Hathran, and Jabal Han, where troops have sought to repel Houthi attacks and thwart infiltration attempts.

Heavy fighting has intensified in the southern and southwestern countryside of Yemen, with battles raging in the al-Shaqb, al-Aqroud, and al-Misrakh areas. Government forces are engaged in fierce clashes from all directions in the al-Shaqb area of Taiz, extending confrontations to areas seized by Houthis on Monday in Sabir.

In a separate development, Houthi forces fired a ballistic missile at the strategic mountain range of Jabal Kahboub in the southwestern region. According to a field military source from the Southern Giants Brigades, the missile impact zone was distant and caused no human or material casualties, but damage was still reported.

The escalation has had a devastating impact on civilians, with many caught in the crossfire. Houthi mortar shells have targeted residential areas, including the al-Ikhwa neighbourhood in central Taiz, resulting in an unknown number of deaths, injuries, and property damage.

Civilians in Taiz are also struggling to access essential supplies due to the Houthi siege. Yemen's Ministry of Public Health and Population has warned that medicines, intravenous fluids, medical supplies, and fuel at the city's health facilities are running perilously low.

The humanitarian crisis is further exacerbated by reports of Houthi violations in Taiz over the past 24 hours, which have resulted in five civilian deaths and 17 injuries. According to the Yemen Network for Rights and Freedoms, a child was among those killed when shelling struck her family's home in the al-Misrakh district.

Residential areas in Taiz city have been severely impacted by Houthi forces' projectile attacks, which have exceeded 180 incidents. The bombardment has caused significant damage to homes and vehicles, as well as a local mosque.

A separate attack on the al-Safwa Hospital early Tuesday morning shattered windows, injured at least one person, and sparked panic among patients and medical staff. This incident followed earlier shelling in residential areas that left five people, including three children, injured.

The continuous shelling and restrictions on supplies have exacerbated humanitarian conditions, prompting the Yemen Network for Rights and Freedoms to urge the United Nations and international community to take immediate action to protect civilians.
