# Tesla Revives Plans for New Roadster

The company has reportedly revived plans to produce a new electric sports car, with CEO Elon Musk touting its capabilities.

Tesla is reportedly reviving its plans to produce a new Roadster, nine years after first attempting to bring the electric sports car back to market. The move marks a return to California's showbiz industry for CEO Elon Musk, who has been touting the vehicle's capabilities in a high-profile demonstration.

The latest iteration of the Roadster is said to be unlike any previous version, with its angular design drawing inspiration from classic cars such as the Lotus Esprit and Lamborghini Gallardo. However, rather than relying on traditional power sources, the new Roadster will instead utilize advanced technology to propel it forward.

A key feature of the vehicle is its use of 100,000 psi jets of compressed nitrogen at the rear, which are capable of propelling the car in mid-air. The demonstration of this technology was reportedly held late at night, with some attendees still waiting to fully understand the regulatory implications.

Tesla has opted for a rear-wheel drive configuration for the new Roadster, a departure from its usual all-wheel drive setup. This decision is believed to be related to the company's efforts to improve battery performance, particularly in light of customer complaints about poor performance in previous models.

The vehicle will utilize Tesla's 4680 cells, which have been the subject of some controversy due to their limited scalability and production challenges. However, the company claims that it has developed a special chemistry for this model specifically designed to address these issues.

Details surrounding the new Roadster are still emerging, but it appears that Tesla is committed to delivering an exceptional driving experience with its latest iteration. The demonstration of advanced technologies such as compressed nitrogen propulsion suggests that the company is pushing the boundaries of what is possible in electric vehicle design.

Tesla's latest performance claims for its upcoming Roadster are ambitious, to say the least. The electric vehicle is said to have a top speed of 383 mph and accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 0.8 seconds.

However, these figures are already being surpassed by other electric vehicles on the market. One such example is the McMurtry Spéirling, a sleek and futuristic car that can generate up to 3.5 lateral Gs. In comparison, Tesla's Roadster is only capable of 2 Gs.

The Spéirling has also set several records in recent years, including a faster lap time around the Top Gear test track than an F1 car. It has also blitzed the Goodwood Hill Climb record and would likely demolish Volkswagen's Pikes Peak time if given the opportunity.

McMurtry has already sold at least 24 of its planned 100-car production run for the Spéirling, indicating strong demand for this high-performance electric vehicle. In fact, McMurtry has been making waves in the automotive world with its impressive performance capabilities.

In 2022, a McMurtry Spéirling set a new record up the Goodwood hill, beating even an F1 car to the top. This achievement is all the more impressive given the Spéirling's unique design and capabilities.

Tesla's CEO Elon Musk has promised that the Roadster will enter production by 2028. However, his track record on meeting deadlines is far from stellar. In 2017, he told attendees at a launch event that the new Roadster was "being made now", but those who put down deposits for the vehicle were left waiting.

Some potential buyers of the Roadster have already discovered how difficult it can be to get their deposit money back. For example, last year Sam Altman found himself in this situation after putting down a deposit for one of the vehicles.

Tesla's financial struggles continue to worsen as its sales decline and costs rise. Despite a decent sales quarter, the company's profits vanished due to increasing expenses and falling selling prices. This trend is not unique to one or two quarters, but rather a persistent issue for Tesla.

The luxury electric vehicle (EV) market has proven to be particularly challenging for Tesla. With hundreds of models available in Europe and China alone, many of which are from Chinese brands that have taken significant share away from Tesla, the company's offerings seem stale. The Model 3 and Y, while still popular, are aging vehicles.

Tesla's high valuation was largely based on its promise of continuous growth, a prospect that seemed plausible when it dominated the EV market with few competitors. However, the landscape has changed dramatically since then. The European and Chinese markets now offer an array of choices, with only two models coming from Tesla.

The company's inability to innovate rapidly has been a major factor in this decline. In contrast, Chinese brands have successfully introduced new technologies and designs that have captured significant market share. As a result, Tesla may be forced to exit the Chinese market entirely.

Elon Musk's priorities for Tesla seem to be shifting away from its core business. He has repeatedly stated that Tesla is no longer just an automaker but rather a technology company with broader ambitions. This vision appears to be centered around merging Tesla with SpaceX, which would create new synergies and potentially provide access to significant funding.

If the merger were to succeed, it could grant SpaceX entry into the S&P 500 index, unlocking billions of dollars in passive investment funds that invest retirement accounts in the benchmark. This development may come as early as the end of the year, marking a significant turning point for both companies and potentially altering their trajectories forever.
