A young fashion student who suffered from severe acne after coming off birth control has transformed her skin using a popular skincare range.

Louisa Josem, from Melbourne, decided to stop using the contraceptive pill in January 2021, but three months later her face was covered in hormonal acne she didn’t know how to get rid of.

At first the 26-year-old opted for clinical facials that only irritated her sensitive skin further.

She then found Alya Skin and used the brand’s moisturiser, micellar cleanser and vitamin C serum regularly to heal her face in seven months.

‘As an attempt to treat my acne I went to get a facial at a skin care clinic. They burnt my face with the use of harsh chemicals, and I was left with potential scarring and further acne,’ Louisa said.

After discovering Alysa Skin, she found the moisturiser and micellar cleanser to be incredibly gentle which helped heal her skin over time.

The foaming micellar cleanser is designed to remove both make up and dirt while leaving the skin feeling hydrated.

The Australian native berries moisturiser, priced at $24.95, is rich in antioxidants, vitamin C and E to rehydrate and nourish the skin.

Louisa also swears by the vitamin C serum and used it daily to remove long-term scarring.

‘After my face healed, I incorporated the clay mask and pore perfecting elixir into my routine which has left me with clear, blemish free skin,’ she said.

The pink clay mask alone is described as ‘Australia’s highest rated’ clay mask, and is designed to detoxify the skin while leaving a brightening glow.

‘My skin was hydrated, spot free and started to glow. I’ve never got so many compliments in my life! Now I’m feeling happy, and my skin is looking healthier than ever!’.

The skincare bundle includes the micellar cleanser, facial scrub exfoliator, pink clay mask and face towel, pore perfecting ‘elixir’, vitamin C serum, eye cream, moisturiser and new facial oil.

What is acne and what causes it?

Ance is a reoccurring skin condition that impacts millions of people around the world

Acne occurs when the pores of the skin become blocked by oil, bacteria, dead skin cells or dirt

Acne can be found almost anywhere on your body. It most commonly develops on your face, back, neck, chest, and shoulders

If you have acne, you’ll typically notice pimples that are white or black. Both whiteheads and blackheads are known as comedones

NHS England data shows 64 per cent of total GP appointments were face-to-face in May. The figure is the second-highest since the height of the first Covid wave forced the majority of appointments to be held virtually. But it is still well below pre-pandemic levels, when eight in 10 appointments took place in-person.
