# Saudi Arabia Travel Warnings Issued by Multiple Countries

Several countries have issued warnings against traveling to Saudi Arabia due to a series of Houthi attacks on airports in the kingdom. Australia and New Zealand are the latest to issue advisories against visiting the country, following similar warnings from the US, Canada, the UK, South Korea, and Japan.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade advised Australians to avoid King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, suggesting that they "reconsider travel to other Saudi airports. Meanwhile, New Zealand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade warned citizens against traveling to the Saudi capital's main gateway, as well as the provinces of Najran, Jazan, and Asir.

The US embassy in Riyadh also issued a warning on Sunday, advising American citizens to reconsider" travel to the kingdom due to the threat of attacks by Iran and its Houthi allies. This is not the first time that the US has expressed concerns about safety in Saudi Arabia following Houthi missile strikes.

Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade specified that while it does not advise against all travel to Saudi Arabia, Australians should exercise caution when traveling to the country due to the risk of attacks on airports.

Canada's Global Affairs department has issued an advisory warning against non-essential travel to Saudi Arabia due to security concerns. This cautionary measure applies to all regions within the country and advises citizens to reconsider their plans if they do not have a compelling reason to visit.

South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also urging its nationals in Saudi Arabia to leave unless absolutely necessary, while advising anyone planning to travel to the kingdom to cancel their trip altogether. This warning reflects growing concerns about safety in the region following a series of attacks on Saudi airports.

The UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office has specifically cautioned citizens against traveling to Jeddah and Dammam, as well as all airports except for Medina International Airport, unless absolutely essential. These restrictions are aimed at minimizing risks to British nationals in light of recent violence.

A projectile struck King Khalid International Airport on Sunday, resulting in one fatality and 11 injuries according to Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA). This incident occurred just days after a Houthi attack on the same airport left 13 dead and over 300 injured, marking one of the deadliest attacks in Saudi Arabia in more than a decade.

The recent Houthi attacks on Saudi airports have had a significant impact on air travel in the region. King Khalid international airport and King Fahd international airport in Dammam remain closed, causing disruptions to flights across the Middle East.

In addition to these closures, King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah has also been affected, with over 150 flights cancelled and 374 delayed on Sunday alone, according to flight tracking data. The disruptions have caused widespread inconvenience for travelers.

The long-term effects of the attacks are still uncertain, but analysts warn that the impact will depend on how long the restrictions remain in place.
