# Macklemore Faces Venue Backlash for Free Palestine Tour

Rapper Macklemore is facing significant challenges in finding venues to host his Free Palestine Tour in the US after several major arenas reportedly declined to host the event due to its political message.

Rapper Macklemore is facing significant challenges in finding venues to host his Free Palestine Tour in the US.

The free concerts aim to raise awareness and funds for Palestinians, but several major arenas across the country have reportedly turned down the tour due to its political message. According to Macklemore's statement on Instagram, nine prominent arenas declined to host the event after learning about its purpose.

Macklemore revealed that his team had been offered available dates at various venues through 2026, but these offers were withdrawn once the arenas discovered the true nature of the tour. The affected venues include Madison Square Garden, Prudential Center, Barclays Center, UBS Arena, Intuit Dome, Kia Forum, Crypto.com Arena, Chase Center, and Climate Pledge Arena.

The rapper expressed his disappointment at being denied access to these iconic venues, stating that he had never encountered such resistance in over two decades of touring. Macklemore's experience is not an isolated incident, as many artists who have supported the Palestinian cause have faced similar backlash and consequences.

Macklemore emphasized that standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people comes at a cost for some individuals, and he is fortunate to have faced only limited repercussions so far. The tour's next stops are yet to be announced, but it remains unclear whether Macklemore will find suitable venues willing to host his free concerts.

The backlash against Macklemore's involvement in Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour has had a lasting impact on his current tour, the Free Palestine Tour.

Macklemore recently wrapped up a successful three-date Arena run of his Free Palestine Tour in Dublin, Paris and London, featuring notable celebrity guest performances and appearances from Hozier, Mark Ruffalo, and Susan Sarandon among others.

The controversy surrounding Macklemore's participation in Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour led to significant backlash against Sheeran himself, who faced pressure from NFL owners including Robert Kraft. This pressure ultimately resulted in Macklemore being removed from the tour.

Kraft defended his decision, stating that he and other owners had concerns about Macklemore's recent actions, material shared during shows, and a broader history of rhetoric and imagery deemed deeply offensive to the Jewish community.

Macklemore has expressed his concerns about the impact of wealthy individuals on freedom of speech in a statement issued last Friday.

He noted that a small group of billionaires can dictate which causes are acceptable and which voices are welcome, raising questions about the value placed on human lives.

The artist's comments come as he faces challenges in booking traditional arena venues for his Free Palestine tour. Despite this, Macklemore remains optimistic about the future, citing recent developments such as the election victory of Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan as evidence that public opinion is shifting.

Macklemore has announced plans to create alternative stages for his tour, stating that he will not be deterred by those who control traditional arena venues.
