No one had a better Sunday Funday than Brittany Matthews.
Ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cowboys, Matthews — the fiancée of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes — hung out on the sidelines at Arrowhead Stadium, where she was joined by Emma Herrington, Mahomes’ cousin.
“A lot of TX Folks here, Hey Y’all,” the 26-year-old posted on Instagram.
Matthews later watched the game from a suite with 9-month-old daughter Sterling Skye, whom she and Mahomes, 26, welcomed in February.
Mahomes, whose struggles have been well-documented this season, helped lead the Chiefs to their fourth straight victory with a 19-9 win over the Cowboys. Kansas City (7-4) is entering its bye week in first place in the AFC West.
Matthews was also present for last weekend’s road win against the Raiders in Las Vegas, where Mahomes returned to his MVP-like form by throwing five touchdowns. She also took aim at critics on Twitter who have called out the Chiefs’ offense, specifically.
“Saying Patrick is broken is ignorant. Saying the chiefs offense is boring is comical,” Matthews tweeted last Sunday.
Matthews also hit back at previous comments made by Ryan Clark on ESPN’s “Get Up,” in which he had stated that Mahomes “is broken,” and that “he’s the same as he’s always been, but that’s no longer good enough.”
“Never doubt 15,” Matthews posted in a separate tweet. “Thanks.”
Mahomes has logged 25 touchdowns this season and has thrown 11 interceptions.
