# Apple Faces Shortage of iPhone Duo Model

Apple is facing a shortage of its latest iPhone model, the Duo, after it quickly sold out just over a week ago following its release. The company's executives are working to balance supply and demand for the phone amid strong sales globally.

Apple is facing a shortage of its latest iPhone model, the Duo, after it quickly sold out just over a week ago following its release.

The high-end smartphone, priced at $1,999, has been in high demand despite concerns about its durability, with some buyers reporting cracked screens on the foldable display.

In an effort to address the shortage and meet customer demand, Apple's executives are working to balance supply and demand for the iPhone Duo. However, it remains unclear when more units will be available for purchase.

During a recent call with financial analysts, Sabhi Kahn, Apple's chief operating officer, acknowledged that the company is struggling to keep up with demand for the phone, stating that it is "really hard to predict when supply and demand will be in balance.

Apple reported a significant surge in iPhone sales globally over the last year, surpassing its previous records. The company's latest financial figures show that it sold more iPhones than ever before during this period.

The three-month period ending 26 September saw a notable increase in iPhone sales, with revenue reaching $57bn - a 17% rise compared to the same quarter last year. This growth is part of Apple's overall trend of rising iPhone sales throughout the year, despite earlier warnings about component constraints affecting other products like Mac computers and iPads.

In addition to strong iPhone sales, Apple also reported a significant increase in Mac computer sales during the quarter, with revenue hitting $10.7bn - another record for the company. This growth contributed to overall sales at Apple, which rose by 15% for the year, reaching $479bn.

Sales of some other Apple products, however, fell short of expectations. The iPad and wearable products, including headphones and the Watch, saw declines of 10% and 7%, respectively. According to Apple's chief operating officer, most devices are still facing supply constraints due to difficulties in securing advanced microprocessors with advanced nodes." These components, which enable faster device performance, have been a challenge for Apple to procure through its manufacturing partner TSMC in Taiwan.

The supply chain constraints facing Apple are expected to persist into next year, particularly affecting iPads and Macs.

The demand for memory storage is also driving up costs for tech companies like Apple, as data centres struggle to keep pace with the rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots and platforms such as OpenAI and Anthropic's products. This surge in demand has led to a significant increase in storage prices, which in turn has had a ripple effect on Apple's hardware product prices.

As a result of these escalating costs, Apple has raised its prices by around 20% across most of its hardware products.
