Fox & Friends co-host Ainsley Earhardt said on Tuesday that Donald Trump’s ability to stay awake late and watch a lot of TV news was actually proof of his work ethic.
“They will criticize President Trump, but no one can argue, he’s a worker,” she said, as seen in the clip below. “He doesn’t drink alcohol, he stays up late at night, he watches every show, he works.
It’s certainly no secret that the incumbent president spends a lot of time watching TV, especially Fox News.
A 2017 report said Trump watched eight hours of television a day, and last April a New York Times article said he was gorging himself even more during the first months of the pandemic. At about this time, the president would arrive at the Oval Office “until noon” after a “morning marathon” on television, the newspaper noted.
“He was in the master bedroom of the White House from 5 a.m. watching Fox News, then CNN, with a dollop of MSNBC thrown in a rage,” the Times report said. “At the end of the day, Mr. Trump turns to his constant companion, the television.
Following Earhardt’s remarks this week, critics on Twitter didn’t quite see the connection between Trump’s voracious appetite for cable news and his alleged industriousness.
